PSD Theatre Students Receive Honors at the International Thespian Festival
Fort Collins theatre students brought home prestigious awards and accolades from the Educational Theatre Association’s International Thespian Festival this past week.
Poudre High School 2010 graduates, Zach Eulberg and Scott Trout, won the Duet Pantomime competition with their original pantomime “Frasi e shiavitu.” Unprecedented for any student from Fort Collins, they performed the piece before 2000 spectators during the Festival’s National Individual Event Showcase. Over 300 students from across the nation competed for a spot on the national stage.
Siobhan Gleason, PHS 2010 graduate, won superiors on her Costume Design for A Midsummer Night's Dream.
PHS 2010 graduate Cypress Staelin-Lefsky won the Theatre Education Scholarship given to only two Thespians from across the nation; she is attending the University of Evansville this fall.
Poudre's Cypress Staelin-Lefsky, Allison Lloyd, and Michael Cienfuegos-Baca, along with Fossil Ridge's Alec Parson, were selected to perform in the new play series, Playworks. Over 200 students auditioned and these four were part of a small group of 25 who performed in four highly selective student-written plays.
Poudre High School juniors (Allison Lloyd, Kaitlyn Martin, Jessica Lenczycki, and Amanda VanOrden), all planning to major in theatre arts, auditioned for university and conservatory programs. They received a collective 50 callbacks from the programs--meaning that these universities are highly interested in accepting our students into their programs. Some have already received offers of scholarships and automatic acceptance.
