Odyssey of the Mind

The Odyssey of the Mind program was “founded on the belief that the mind, like the body, can be developed through practice and exercise to reach its fullest potential.” Through this school sponsored extracurricular program, students are divided into teams of 5 to 7 members based on grade. Participants will work on fun-filled mental activities geared toward learn creative techniques and skills to solve given long term problem. The end result is the team presenting its final solution as an 8 minute performance at the District wide Odyssey of the Mind competition, held Saturday, March 26^th, 2011 at Fossil Ridge High School.

• The first OM team meeting will be prior to the Winter break. Practices will be approximately one hour after school, one day a week, beginning the week of January 3^rd, 2011.

• Participants must also be available to compete in the annual District wide competition, held Saturday, March 26^th, 2011 at Fossil Ridge High School (Note that this is usually the same day as the first soccer game of the Spring season).

• Parent/Adult representative involvement IS REQUIRED. (Please see registration form)
• In the event a shortage of co-coaches occurs, a raffle will be held to fill teams. Children with a parent/adult representative who co-coach will be guaranteed a slot on an OM team.

§ Teams will be formed on a first-come, first-served basis and to those whose have a parent/adult volunteering to co-coach.
