The 9th Annual Organizing Resources Around Needs Workshop (Oran Saye Memorial Workshop) will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Collins Marriott, 350 E. Horsetooth Road.

Marlo Payne Rice will be the keynote speaker. He will present “The Power of One: Healing the Wounded child.”

Other breakout sessions include the following topics and presenters:

· Advocacy (Peak Parent Center)

· Teen Depression and Suicide (Suicide Resource Center)

· Transitions (Empower Colorado)

· Families in Crisis (Melissa Frazey, PhD.)

· Social Skill Builders (Tom Linnell, EdD.)

· From Challenges to Opportunities (Michael Sandler, ADD coach)

Cost of the workshop is $60, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch. This educational workshop is recommended for any parent, caretaker, or educator who wants to know more about helping children who are struggling in school, having trouble with peers or the justice system, or who have depression and/or low self-esteem.

Oran Saye was a 12-year-old boy who had ADD and took his life in 1997. His family donated money to launch the first conference in 1999 and continues to put it on yearly. The seminar is dedicated to preventing further tragedies through education, advocacy and support.

April 19-21

Poudre High School Theatre Department presents "The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged)" at 7p.m. each evening at Poudre High School, 201 Impala Drive.

37 plays, 90 minutes, a cast of…three? Can they do it? And how!

This rollicking comedy is directed by Melinda J. Scott, of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Ms. Scott has served as The Colorado Shakespeare Festival's Education Outreach Director since September 2001. She was also a faculty member of Boulder Conservatory Theatre. Ms. Scott was featured as guest director for the Poudre School District's 2006 Shakespeare in Summer production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The Compleat Wrks is what the Los Angeles Daily News calls "fast-paced, continually clever, an exhilarating mix of highbrow and lowbrow that will appeal to all but the stuffiest adults."

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and are available at the door or by calling the box office: 488-6006.

April 20, 2007

Fourth graders, who have been studying the circulatory and respiratory systems, will dissect human hearts at 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Zach Core Knowledge Elementary, 3715 Kechter.

More than 20 hearts will be dissected as students work in groups with the help of Colorado State University students and parent volunteers.

April 21 – 22, 2007

More than 80 winning science fair projects completed by 4th – 6th graders will be on display at the District Science Fair at the Discovery Center Science Museum, 703 E. Prospect.

The public may view the projects from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on April 21 and from noon to 5 p.m. on April 22.The Discovery Center Science Museum will be open to the public free of charge. The awards ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. April 21 at the museum’s main exhibit hall.

Individual science projects will compete in the following 8 categories: Behavioral Science, Engineering, Botany/Agriculture, Math/Computers, Consumer Science, Physical Science, Earth Science and Zoology/Medicine.
