Fossil Ridge High School Spanish 4 students receive Cesar Chavez award
Congratulation to Fossil Ridge High School Spanish 4 students who recently received a Cesar Chavez High School award for their work with younger students. The students were honored in March during the Cesar Chavez CSU & Community Celebration.
Last year the students completed group projects about the importance of Cesar Chavez, his fight for justice and issues surrounding working conditions of the migrant population. This year, the same students extended their role as language learners by teaching Spanish to 7th and 8th graders at Preston Junior High.
Junior High students represent PSD at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair April 5 and 6
Congratulations to the following junior high students who represented PSD at the 52nd Colorado Science and Engineering Fair held at Colorado State University recently:
Junior Division:
Boltz JHS: Amber Vesely Jr.received 3rd place in the Plant Sciences division. This honor comes with a certificate, medal and $50.
Kinard JHS: Ian Koss and Brian Heckman represented Kinard JHS at the fair. Brian Heckman received 3rd place for the Engineering and Transportation division. This honor comes with a certificate, medal, and $50.
Blevins JHS: Majed Aldhamari received the Young Scientist Award for the Behavioral and Social Sciences division.
Hannah Ekblad received Honorable Mention for the Plant Sciences division. Hannah also received some special awards. Hannah’s project was recognized as the top junior project by Rio Tinto Minerals Inc. for which she was given $100 and a certificate. Hannah received second place from the Soil and Water Conservation Society for which she was given a certificate, ribbon, and $25.
Senior Division:
Carson Wray and Aubrey Hasvold were recognized as the top two senior division projects from the regional Long’s Peak Science and Engineering Fair. They have been given an all expense paid trip to the International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 13-19, 2007.
