Beattie Elementary will host a “Pirate’s Adventure” Spring Fling fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at the school located at 3000 Meadowlark Ave.

The evening will feature a treasure dig, silent auction, arts and crafts and games. For more information, contact Beattie Elementary at 223-0100.

May 4-5, 2007

Rocky Mountain High School presents “­I Hate Hamlet,” at 7:00 on the RMHS main stage, 1300 W. Swallow. The RMHS Drama Department puts a new twist to this age-old adage with their production of Paul Rudnick’s “I Hate Hamlet.”  The comedy will make you laugh with séances, sword fights, and soliloquies.

General admission tickets are $9 for adults,  $8 for students and $7 for children and senior citizens.  Tickets are on sale at the RMHS box office from 11:10-12:00 and 3:10-3:45 daily.

To raise awareness for the Child Advocacy Center, The Fort Collins High School Management Class is promoting the 11th Annual Run for a Child’s Sake to fellow classmates, teachers, parents and community members. The race will be held at 8 a.m. at the Runners Roost, 902 W. Drake Road.

The cost is $20 an adult and $17 for children under 18.   Individuals may sign up at the following places: Runners Roost, 902 W. Drake Rd.; Foot of the Rockies, 1205 W. Elizabeth or 150 E. Harmony Rd.; Sneakers 257A E. 29th, Loveland.

Individuals may sign up online at Active.com. Make sure to register with Fort Collins High School.  Registrations will also be held the day of the race at 7:30 a.m., but the cost will increase.  Read below for information on the Child advocacy Center.

Larimer County Child Advocacy Center’s Mission Statement:

The Larimer County Advocacy Center (LCCAC) reduces trauma to children during child abuse investigations. We provide a child-friendly setting for forensic interviews and the coordination of services while ensuring children and families receive effective and sensitive support.

The Expeditionary Learning  (Outward Bound) School (formerly called the PIONEER School for Expeditionary Learning) will hold its annual silent auction fundraiser at 7 p.m., May 4 at the Sunset Event Center.

This year the “Bluegrass Night” event features the talents of local bluegrass favorites like the Billy Pilgrims Band and the Spring Creek Bluegrass Band. Great hors d'oeuvres, desserts and a silent auction round off the event, making it a fun Friday night out. Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple and are available at the current PIONEER School -2745 Minnesota Drive.

Tickets are also available at ABCD's-157 N. College Ave and The Finest Music-1103 W. Elizabeth.

All proceeds from this event will benefit PIONEER School for Expeditionary Learning; a school for grades 7-12 that emphasizes leadership training through academics, adventure and service learning. www.pioneer-school.org.

The Lincoln World IB Junior High School 9th graders will host a reception to kick off the Memory Project Exhibition from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Starry Night Coffee Co., 112 S. College Ave. 

The Memory Project Exhibit uses art to bring joy to homeless and orphaned children around the world. Lincoln World IB School ninth grade students have created portraits of children from Quito, Ecuador.  These portraits will be displayed through May, and then sent to Ecuador to the children depicted in the portraits. 

The public is invited to come learn more about the project and view the portraits, and help support this meaningful project.
