State Science Olympiad WinnersTwo PSD Schools Win First Place in their Divisions at the State Science Olympiad Competition
Poudre School District schools dominated the state Science Olympiad competition, with a PSD high school team and junior high team winning first place in their divisions at the event which was held recently at the School of Mines in Golden.
Poudre High School’s #1 team finished 1st place in the high school division, placing in the top 3 in 19 of 23 events and beating out 2nd place Cheyenne MT by 106 points. The competition included 26 participating high schools, which were narrowed down from the 52 teams at the regional competition.
Blevins Junior High also gave a stellar performance, winning 1st place in the junior high division. Blevins competed against 26 junior high teams, which were selected from 55 teams that participated in the regional competition.
Both the winning PHS and Blevins teams will represent Colorado at the National Science Olympiad finals in Wichita, Kansas in May. The top 60 teams from across the US (representing more than 8,000 teams nationwide) will compete at the national finals.
