NASA Interacts with Preston Preston Media Center Hosts Video-conference with NASA
Preston students will learn about careers in engineering from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) engineers during a live interactive video conference on May 15.
Preston 7th- and 8th- grade-students will meet with NASA engineers at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, in the Preston media center, 4901 Corbett Dr., Fort Collins. Engineers will describe their current jobs and the kind of education required to work at NASA. Following the presentation, students will interact directly with NASA staff and ask questions.
The conference will be telecast through a two-way camera that will allow students to see and hear NASA engineers. The recently purchased equipment will also be used on June 12 for an interactive staff development class. NASA staff will facilitate a 90-minute interactive video conference with staff to teach them different ways to get every student engaged and exciting about learning. Video conferences are provided free by NASA.
“There are limitless opportunities to use this equipment,” said Tracey Winey, Preston media specialist. “We plan to use it to teach social studies, English, mathematics and across all areas of the curriculum in the future.”
