Pumpkin Run

The Pumpkin Run will begin right after school (see the schedule below). There is no advanced sign-up needed. Students may participate in only one event for a prize. Students must run with their grade level and gender. If you wish to obtain a time for your child’s run, parents will need to bring and use your own stop watch (unless they enter the 5th & 6th grade competitive run).

The course begins on the southeast corner of the Traut playground, goes east behind the ball fields in Harmony Park, south across the grass, over the bridge, west along the sidewalk, and north along the wavy sidewalk, finishing at the southwest corner of the playground (runners are always in sight of the school). The course is just a little short of one-half mile. Most of it is on sidewalk/blacktop, but a portion is on grass. The first half is slightly downhill and the last half is slightly up hill. Participants may choose to walk, jog, or run all or part of the course. This is not an "official" race, as the distance is an approximation, and the course is over varied surfaces.

Schedule of Events: The first event will begin at 3:15 with 2-minute intervals between races. Students need to be at the staging area (on the southeast playground, inside the flags) 5 minutes prior to their event.

Students who want to run twice may run once with their grade level and once with their family at 4:00 pm, but students will only be given a ticket for a prize for the grade level event. Older students may come out to the grass area behind the school and cheer on the younger students as they wait their turn. Students should not be sitting on top of the playground structures, shooting baskets, playing tags, etc. Participants may leave their backpacks, etc., along the walls of the building or with parents.

At the finish line, student runners will receive a ticket for a prize (for participation, not for place finish). They may pick up their prize (a goodie bag) at the double doors on the south of the school building after their run. Student may go home with their parents/carpool when they are finished.
