Moore Votes for First Furry FriendFurry Friend Election Shows Democratic Process at Moore
Moore Core Knowledge Elementary students will vote in an election for “First Furry Friend” on Election Day, allowing students to participate in a simulation of the democratic process.
The election will take place the morning of Tuesday, November 4, and follows a school-wide campaign held the week of October 27. The candidates are three therapy dogs and a cat, all running for “First Furry Friend.” Students will judge candidates on their character.
Candidates are running on two "tickets" or platforms: Running under The Believers are Claudeen the Labrador, and Homer the cat. Running under The Dreamers platform are Phoebee and Gladus, both Labradors.
The animals belong to Moore teacher, Amy Fristoe, and often visit students at Moore so the children are familiar with the dogs, their character and their work.
