New Year, New Principal at Lopez

Asmus Named Principal for Lopez Elementary

Poudre School District is pleased to announce that Anthony Asmus has accepted the position of principal for Lopez Elementary School.

An interview team comprised of Lopez staff members and parents, facilitated by a district administrator, led the selection process.  The interview team then selected and forwarded candidates to Dr. Jerry Wilson, superintendent, and Dr. Kevin Hahn, assistant superintendent of elementary schools.  Drs. Wilson and Hahn are recommending Mr. Asmus from a strong field of candidates.

Mr. Asmus has six years of administrative experience including work as a grades 7-8 associate principal; K-6 principal; special education director and coordinator; and K-12 technology coordinator.  He also has elementary and middle school teaching experience in reading and language arts.  He has worked for Southeast Polk Community School District in Pleasant Hill, Iowa since 2007.

Mr. Asmus’ qualifications also include principal licensure, a master’s degree in educational leadership and specialist in educational administration from Drake University in Iowa.  He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary and middle school education with a minor in reading education from the University of Northern Iowa.

“We are excited that Mr. Asmus will be recommended as the principal for Lopez Elementary and know that his 15 years of education experience will be an asset to the parents, students, and staff members of Lopez,” says Kevin Hahn, Ph.D., assistant superintendent of elementary schools.
