Why Choose Beattie?

Print the Beattie brochure  Beattie_Flyer_Beattie_Flyer_2011.pdf

Learn about our school through quotes taken
from student/parent surveys,school of choice
applications, and general feedback:

  • "I have high praise for the staff at Beattie because of its superior commitment to provide a challenging academic environment. The students continue to impress me with their high level of respect and courteous manners. Such impressive behaviors can be greatly attributed to the determination and dedication of the staff to implement successful character education and good citizenship programs." Parent quote from a school of choice application.

  • Beattie offers Whole Child instruction with certified Music, Art, P.E. and Media teachers who see classes in the same or lower student/teacher ratio than in the regular classroom. See this link.

  • Talk about wellness and physical activity:

In addition to PE time 45 minutes weekly, three activities are available for all Beattie students:

    1.  The Get- Up-and- Go club gives students the chance to run, walk or skip their way around a ¼ mile loop on the back field on Mondays after school.

    2.  Walk and Wheel Wednesdays give students the chance to win a fun prize every Wednesday if they ride or walk to school.

    3.  Lunch laps are offered at lunch recess once a week. Students join the teachers for a walk and a talk outside in the fresh air.

  • "One of things I really admire about this school, is the teacher's involvement. I love to see the teachers out there playing on the playground with the kids. It shows that they really do care. I also like that the teachers care about their students after they have moved on." Beattie Parent

  • "I've been going to Beattie since kindergarten. I want to stay here through 5th grade. I have a lot of friends here. Everyone is challenged at their own learning level and everyone gets treated equally. It's very fair. Everyone is allowed to participate. It's a nice, cozy school where I feel safe and protected." 5th grade student (School of Choice family)

  • Every teacher at Beattie is dedicated to viewing each child as an individual and helping each child reach his/her greatest potential.

Parent comments from the school board input survey january 2011:

  • Beattie School provides a very unique learning experience for children that has

    proven beneficial to all stakeholders.

We chose to live in our home because of Beattie. Not only because it was just an

elementary school in the neighborhood, but because of the caliber of instruction

    and teachers at Beattie.

My daughter was home-schooled for two years before starting third grade at

Beattie. We had and have the utmost confidence in Mr Aldern and the teachers

and staff there, that our wishes for our children's education be honored.

Beattie Elementary is like no other in the district. At one time many years ago

Beattie was the school of choice because of their G/T program. Their open

classrooms and team teaching model have served my child and will not be found

in any other school in PSD.

Beattie has been an outstanding school for my son! He started K and 1st grade in

the title I reading program he is now in 3rd grade and reading at almost the 6th

grade level. He has benefitted from the small class atmosphere.

My daughter has Epilepsy with a speech disability, making her a special needs

child. She attended the IEP program at Beattie for 3 years, and is in Kindergarten this year utilizing the Title 1 program Beattie offers. She needs this kind of family supporting her,

    and only Beattie offers this.

Both of my sons attended Beattie elementary. They benefited greatly from the

smaller school experience both academically and socially.

My daughter attended this school and it offered a high quality education for an

area of town where the children really need it. If I hadn't have remarried, she

    would attend there still.

My daughter went to Beattie all 6 years (k thru 6th) and because of the amazing

teachers and staff she now wants to be a teacher herself. Beattie is in a very safe

neighborhood that is filled with children that should not be bused to another

    school. I love Beattie.

Beattie has a unique open classroom, collaborative delivery system. Both my daughters attended Beattie and had an excellent learning experience.

Beattie Elementary is an Excellent School and all the teachers and Principal are

very dedicated and hard working professionals.

Beattie Elementary should stay like it has for years.... I like all the teachers and

    Principal of Beattie.

We moved into this neighborhood specifically so that my children could have a

true neighborhood school--one that all students could walk to. No other school

met our needs and the needs of our children like Beattie

Beattie Elementary is not just a school, it’s a home away from home for our

children, and a foundation for our neighborhood!

I grew up in the Poudre school district then moved to Florida after graduation. I

had a family while living in Florida and saw the way the schools are there. So I

moved Back to Colorado to give my four boys the best education that I could. I

live in Old town Fort Collins And choose Bettie as the school of choice for my

children because of very good test scores and small class room size

Beattie is an excellent neighborhood school, which many kids can walk to.

Beattie's unique teaching/learning open style, prepares students for the future and

has produced very good academic testing results

I bought my home, and chose Beattie as my neighborhood school based on it's

open learning environment and record of performance. Implementing Beattie's

Functional Creativity plan allows this school to improve on that even further

The Beattie experience set the foundation for my sons' educational journey!

Beattie was our school of choice.

My eldest is enrolled at the Colorado School of Mines and his Brother seems to

be headed in that direction also

We chose our neighborhood BECAUSE of Beattie. We recently moved from

Oregon and chose the Poudre School district because of its reputation. We then

narrowed down the neighborhood we live in based on online reviews,

neighborhood input and test scores. Beattie has exceeded our expectations with

its Gifted and Talented program, teachers, innovative teaching methods and an

    Excellent principal.

I specifically moved into the Beattie community for my son to get a more one on

one quality education. The staff at Beattie care about each child and show it.

You can't say that about a lot of the PSD schools. My son has made major

improvements this year with the help of the Beattie staff. I have heard the same

about the staff from other parents.
