6th Grade Sports

General Information

6th Grade Tennis

           August - September.   Participants register by calling 493-7000 by August 13th.

6th Grade Tackle Football

  • August - October.  Participants register by school. Teams are formed based on weight at equipment handout (heavy and lightweight leagues). There is a maximum of 16 players per team. Games will be played on Saturday mornings in a City Park or on a Middle School field (based on availability). All teams are given at least one game at French Field. Eight games will be scheduled.  Equipment Handout will be the week of 8/16. All equipment is included with the registration fee.

6th Grade Slow-Pitch Softball

  • August - October.   Participants register by school. Teams are formed based on weight at equipment handout (heavy and lightweight leagues). There is a maximum of 16 players per team.  Games will be played on Saturday mornings in a City Park or on a Middle School field (based on availability). All teams are given at least one game at French Field. Eight games will be scheduled. Equipment Handout will be the week of 8/16. All equipment is included with the registration fee.

Cross Country

  • August - October.  Cross Country is open to all middle school students. Teams will compete in various events throughout the season on weekday afternoons or Saturday mornings. The registration fee includes a team T-shirt.

Wrestling

  • November - December.  The wrestling program is open for youth grades 4-6. Participants register by school or school they will attend. All teams are scheduled two dual meets and a city meet on the final day of the season. Meets will be held on Saturday mornings or weeknights. The registration fee includes a team T-shirt.

Girls Basketball

  •  October - December. The girls basketball program is open to 6th graders. In addition a separate league will be open to those 7th and 8th graders who did not make the school team. Participants register by school. Games will be played on Saturday mornings with some possible weeknight games. All teams are guaranteed six games (five league games with an end of season tournament). Game locations are to be announced. The registration fee includes a team T-shirt.

Boys Basketball

  • January - March.   The boys basketball program is open to 6th graders. In addition a separate league will be open to those 7th and 8th graders who did not make the school team. Participants register by school. Games are played on Saturday mornings with some possible weeknight games. All teams are guaranteed six games (five league games with an end of season tournament). Volleyball

  • March - May.   The volleyball program is open to 6th graders. In addition a separate league will be open to those 7th and 8th graders who did not make the school team. Participants register by school. Matches will be played on Saturday mornings with occasional weeknight games. All teams are guaranteed six games (five league games plus end of season tournament). Game locations are to be announced. The registration fee includes a team T-shirt.

Track

  • Effective this school year, 6th graders will be charged a middle school athletic fee of $30.00 to participate in track at their middle school.
  • Track practice begins Monday, April 4.  6th graders will be able to practice with 7th and 8th graders, and have one triangular during the season.  They also will have a District Meet on Saturday, May 7.  All students interested in participating in track, including 6th graders, need to have a current physical card on file in the front office in order to begin practice.  Physical cards are available in the front office, and are good for one calendar year.  Please sign up in the school office to participate in track.
