This school year (2011-2012), Student Leadership Team (SLT), is made up of 20-25 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The goal of SLT is to work together to develop activities for Blevins Middle School that are fun, interesting, and educational. SLT members are our "Culture Cheerleaders". These students recognize needs within our school as well as in our community and "make it happen" by working in committees to plan and develop activities for our student body to participate in that "make a difference".
SLT sponsors activities such as spirit days, theme dances, canned food drives, holiday wishes, valentine wishes, coat, hat, and glove drives, CSAP rally, Mix-it-Up Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Anti-Bullying Awareness, Day Without Hate, and so much more!
Another aspect that drives this team is how the leaders reach beyond the team. They work together to develop opportunities within Blevins for students to initiate and complete service projects. In the past, the student body has raised money for the Heifer International Project, Animal House (local no-kill shelter), and the Good Samaritan Society Fort Collins Village. This gives all kids the chance to give and "pay it forward".
