PTO
Our parent teacher organization (PTO / School Council) is group of parents and teachers that meet once a month with the principal to discuss ways to improve Irish. Typically, this group is responsible for coordinating and organizing fundraisers as well as evening all school activities like the Math Family Night and the end of year Carnival.
The following is a welcome letter from our new PTO president, Mrs. Miller:
Dear Irish families,
I would like to welcome you all to the 2010-2011 Irish School Council. Wether you are a new kindergarten family or have been at Irish for years, we are very happy to have you join us this year. School Council is a great way not only to invest in your child's education, it is also a great way to connect with other parents. This year we have some great goals and fundraisers, however we need your help in orer for this to be successful. I am also hoping to get the students at Colorado State University invovled in our school this year, they can help us with fundraisers, they can read to students, the possibilities are endless. Together we can make a difference at Irish Elementary and I am looking forward to working with the staff and families to make this a fantastic year.
School Council goals:
1. To get more families involved in school council and volunteering
2. To hold fundraisers to help fund field trips and help teachers with supplies
3. To provide a staff luncheon to be held during teacher appreciation week
4. To utilize and inovlve the biggest volunteer foundations in our community (both CSU and high school students)
Fundraising ideas:
1. Barnes and Noble fundraising night
2. Mother's Day Plant Sale (we could contact a local nursery asking for the plants and flowers to be donated)
3. Schwann's Food Delivery (an easy fundraiser, staff and students can pre-place their order and then the truck with the delivery would park in front of the school for picking up the orders, we would get a percentage of the sales)
4. Gift wrapping (has been the largest money maker in the past)
5. Little Caesar Pizza Kit (each kit contains sauce, dough, and cheese) Kits sell for $18.50 and you get 3 pizza's per kit. We would get a $5.00 profit on each kit sold.
6. T-shirts (we could have students design the shirts and sell them)
7. Father/Daughter Dance for Valentine's Day (sell tickets and provide refreshments)
8. Domino's Pizza (flyers go home with students and on a set night, families can order from Domino's, and turn in the certificate in the flyer. For every pizza sold with a certificate, the school will get $1.00 and .50 for each side item. At the end of the year, the class that has turned in the most certificates will get a pizza party)
