Welcome 2010-2011

Welcome back! We have had a very successful start to our school year and it is simply wonderful to have our hallways filled with the sound of children’s laughter and voices.  We have missed them over the summer and are very happy that the year has started. 

This is my third year at O’Dea Core Knowledge Elementary and it is such a nice feeling to return to such a warm, respectful and active working environment. We are looking forward to implementing our recess before lunch model again this year and have fine-tuned our system so that it flows even better than last year!  On a new news note, we have moved to a Color-coded specials schedule this year to ensure that all students have equal access to specials throughout the school year.  We are also implementing an Enrichment block at the beginning of each day to provide opportunities for our students to be taught at their strategic level.  It will be a wonderful opportunity to truly differentiate instruction for our students.  You can learn more about these new initiatives at our Back to School Night that will be hosted on Thursday, August 27^th starting at 6:00. 

I am enjoying seeing your children every day and miss them when they are gone in the afternoons.  Please know that I pride myself on knowing each and every child in our school and hope to have all of their names under my belt by October.  I am looking forward to watching this year unfold and growing with you and our amazing teachers and students.  It will be an exciting year with great challenges and opportunities for growth for our entire school community.   Thank you for sending your children to us!
