First Grade
Juli Romero - I have been teaching for 15 years, and I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I have taught at Riffenburgh for 5 years. I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education. I teach because it is so rewarding to see the special "Now I get it!" look on a child's face. I teach because it is a challenging job that requires creativity, since every child is unique. I teach because I believe in life long learning for all of us, including myself! I have three children, who all attended Riffenburgh Elementary School K-6th. Therefore, I was a Riffenburgh parent with a child at this school for 17 years. I enjoy playing the piano, skiing, and eating popcorn!
Cassidy Kimball - I have been teaching for 2 years, and this is my first year at Riffenburgh! This is my first year in first grade and I am quickly learning why this is the best grade to teach. The excitement that the students have for learning is inspiring and it is a joy to work with them every day. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Special Education: Gifted and Talented at my alma mater, University of Northern Colorado. I enjoy cooking, spending time with my husband and skiing in the winter months. I am thrilled to be a part of the Riffenburgh community and look forward to meeting more and more of you in the years to come!
About our class!
As we all know, it is important for every student to read for at least 20 minutes each night. First graders are growing and learning so fast and every day counts. Enjoy your chance to spend time learning together! Six and seven year olds are lured into reading by the magic of literature. They love good stories, playful language, and great pictures. No matter what program is used in the classroom, it is important to remember that the determining factor of an ability to read is your child's interest in books. You can also help by being a reading role model.
