Mayors of Timnath

By: Taylor Siebenaler and Jenna Friede

1994-2000 Jenny McGraw
2000-Present Anna Lee Foster

Here is some extra information about the past mayors:

  • Robert Watts was mayor at the beginning of the Depression and World War II.
  • Folke Carlson was a vet before becoming mayor.
  • Walter Reck was a professional baseball player!
  • Watts and Parker were both farmers.
  • Dora Jeffers was born in the house across from Town Hall.
  • One person became mayor and resigned the same day.
  • Timothy Gain and L.E. Parker became mayor twice.

Here is a short summary on what the mayors job includes.
They make desicions for the town and they decide what changes are to be made to the town. We also interviewed Barbara T. Shader and discovered some interesting information. The hardest thing about being a mayor was the hours. They had no spare time since they had all these problems to deal with.

These are some complaints that people had about the town. A while ago there were no paved streets just dirt so people complained a lot about this to the mayor. The mayor also got complaints about electricity going out and questions on how it worked since at that time it was new to town. Another big thing that people complained about was people's dogs running around the town and going onto other people¹s property. As you can see, the mayors had their hands full twenty four seven.

Just think of what this town would be like without these mayors! Well, as for now, that is all the information we can give you. Thank you for taking your time to read this article about the mayors!

I thought this project was fun. I enjoyed our topic and would not switch to another one. I also had a fun time working with a partner, especially since it was a hard subject to research and I could not have done it on my own. I liked the time limit. I enjoyed a lot more also, such as how we got to pick out our own topic and research it on our own. It helped me be independant from the teachers.
We came up with the idea for mayors since one of the girls in this class' mom and dad were mayor of Timnath. We found out a lot of fun information from doing this project and I'm glad I've experienced it.

I enjoyed a lot of things about this project. First off, I liked working with a partner, because if you had a question, you didn't always have to take it to the teacher. I also liked being able to choose the topic we wrote about. I chose this topic because I am very interested in mayors, yet don't know much about them. The interviews were very fun. I liked talking to people who knew a lot about Timnath, since I have gone here since 1st grade! I think, in conclusion, this special was a lot of fun.
