Stagecoaches were a way of transportation in the year 1860. Stations were located every 10 or 15 miles. Stagecoaches made transportation easier. One stagecoach company, called the Abbot Farm is today known as Fisher Farm company. They are located on the Larimer/Weld county road. It served as a post office, and swing station. This made transportation easier for travelers. Stagecoaches weren't the only way of transportation. In the 1900¹s the first train came through Timnath carring supplies for farmers and also to commute people from Timnath to Fort Collins and Windsor for shopping. The train fare for a 15 minute ride was $.15 one way and $.25 round trip. The train service was discontinued in the 1930¹s for financial reasons. |

Back thenTimnath, had a one-gallon hand pump for gasoline, which was later replaced by a five gallon hand pump. In the year 1920 gasoline was sold for $.13 cents a gallon, and a well know brand of gasoline was White Rosa. Motorcycles were also very popular. The automobile continued to gain popularity. The train was replaced by a commercial bus service. The Berens bus stopped at Timnath, Windsor and Greeley. The bus also carried the mail previously delivered by the train. The Automile license was printed in a 1937 by the Fort Collins Express Courier. |

The early roads were very narrow. Dusty wagon trails became very rutted, and muddy after it rained or when the snow had melted completely. Sometimes, the mud would be knee-deep for horses. Private road companies built sections of roads and of bridges.

Kendra's Processing Page I created this history of Timnath page, when I was in the 6th grade here at Timnath. In this class, I learned a lot about the little town of Timnath. To gather this information, I used the Timnath History book published in 1996. I also talked to a wonderful man named Keith Shader, who was an open book for questions. He was able to anwser any of the questions I threw at him. I hope anyone who reads this article learns as much as I did, maybe even a little more. Thank you everyone who made this article possible.
Crystal's Processing Page I created this history of Timnath page when I was in the sixth grade as part of a final choice class. Why I chose Transportation is because I felt that it would be interesting to do transportation and to do a little work about the roads. I would get my information from the Timnath history book and from my interview with Keith Shader. I felt that Keith Shader had a lot of information about the transportation of Timnath back then.
I was a little nervous on doing the interviews with people who know a lot about the town of Timnath. What I found most interesting on doing the interviews was the cheerleading outfits that Mrs. Shader brought with her.
I want to Thank Mr. and Mrs. Shader for all the information that they gave me.
Thank You so much!!!
