General Media Center Information
Hours: 7:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. (open during both lunch hours)
Circulation Policies:
- Books may be checked out for 2 weeks.
- Reference materials may only be checked out over night.
- Magazines may be checked out for 1 week.
- AlphaSmarts may only be checked out over night.
Fines / Fees:
- There is a 10 cents per day charge for late books.
- The maximum charge for late fees is $2.50 per item.

Hardware
Our media center has PC and Mac computers set up to run CD-ROMS, access the server, access OPAC, use the Internet, use photo editing, or use the scanners. We also have a PC computer lab attached to the media center used for researching, creating multimedia projects, word processing, and creating web pages. In this lab we have 25 HP computers, 2 color printers, 2 scanners, and a laser jet printer. All of our computers and printers are networked to the server and Internet. We also have 36 AlphaSmart laptop word processors that may be downloaded to the servers and printers and and 2 wireless lap top labsand 2 wireless lap top labs 2 wireless notebook labs.

Our media center computers have many applications available for student and staff use:
- Microsoft Office 2000 (Publisher, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
- Appleworks (Word Processing, Draw, Paint, Assistants)
- Outlook (e-mail)
- Internet Explorer (Web Browser)
- Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks (Macromedia Web Building Tools)
- Geometer's Sketch Pad
- Reading Counts (Scholastic Book Talk program)

- Various Educational CD-ROMs/programs
Staff

· Mary Swanson – Media Specialist, 20 years teaching experience, Master's degree in media education, CDE endorsed in media education and secondary language arts
