Welcome to Werner Elementary!  We are eager to meet you and help you begin your volunteer venture to support our students and staff and make this an incredible year.  Please read through the opportunities below to learn about Werner events and activities.  Which could you chair or co-chair?  Which fun team will you join?

Chair a Committee for the School Year:

o Birthday Books – a new program to supplement the library and celebrate our childrens’ birthdays.

o Great Books – reading program for grades 1-6 using short stories and group discussion to boost students’ learning.

o Lego Robotics – support a student team in creating and competing with Lego Robots.

o Literacy / Guided Reading Program – a new program that supports classrooms and enables students to read books on their appropriate level.  Volunteers will need to organize and maintain the book room – ordering new sets, using spreadsheets for cataloguing, organizing into boxes, and  maintaining the check-out system.

o PTA Newsletter: Need Text Editor – published monthly throughout school year - layout editor Kathy Mason.

o Spirit Sales – determine what type of spirit sales to order, create and sell to community.

o Yearbook – determine which company to use, capture pictures throughout year, layout and publish book in April 2010.
