The goals of the Werner volunteer program is to support, sustain and expand the community's involvement in education.  Volunteers assist students and teachers in a wide variety of activities, which includes tutoring, grading, helping with classroom activities, assisting with the special classes, office staff and more.  We also have many opportunities to volunteer for exciting PTA activities that impact enrichment and engagement.  Every school has a building volunteer coordinator that works in partnership with the school principal and staff and under the direction of the Partnership and Voluneer Program. 

For the safety of our students and staff, PSD Board Policy requires all volunteers in the PSD database to have a background check completed.  Registration is fast and easy and may be done online either at home, at school at the volunteer PC in the main office, or from any computer with access to the Internet.  Go to www.psdschools.org and click on Community, then Volunteers and Partners at the bottom of the menu and then to Volunteers Registration on the second screen.

Carefully read the Volunteer Agreement before you complete your online application.  If you agree to the Volunteer Agreement, you may go to the online application by clicking on the Volunteer Online Application.  Background checks are done through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Once you have been approved, a Werner Volunteer name tag is made for you.  Every time you come into the school, you need to sign in at the volunteer station in the front office and wear you name tag.

At Werner, the teachers and staff identify the needs they anticipate throughout the year and parents are given the opportunity to sign up for these spots at the beginning of the school year.  This year's Volunteer Sign Ups will be held on Tuesday August 25th - Thursday the 27th.  The signs will be up the entire time and we will have people availabe to anwer questions all day on Tuesday.  If you can't make these dates you can always work with the Room Coordinator, PTA chairs, teachers or staff to find a spot that's right for you!
